About Us: What does it mean for Canterbury?

The Canterbury district is a prime example of the opportunity to now fully convert the region's strength of its research and development base into an internationally competitive knowledge economy. We believe that the Enterprise Hub will be a major catalyst for repositioning Canterbury as an attractive place to do hi-tech and knowledge-based business.

Over the next five years, we believe the combined Hub and Innovation Centre will create or attract up to 50 new, knowledge-based businesses offering high quality jobs for graduates and the local population, slowing down and ultimately stopping the brain-drain from the district. Some of these businesses are expected to arrive from overseas (USA, Israel, Europe, Singapore) utilizing University of Kent's strengths in ICT and life sciences, requiring a presence in Britain and a proximity to Europe.
